ARCHITECTURE DESIGN 3
In the module, "experiencing space and place" in architecture is emphasized. Students are introduced to the idea of neighborhood and community in the topic, as well as an examination of the spatial typologies and poetics in architecture.
Project 1
Project 1 is a collaborative project featuring a part for each member. The aim is to romanticize a typical Malaysian tropical beach and turn it into an exciting narrative journey that will then be translated into two separate independent Poetic Journey Structures. Groups of eight students are given this work. One narrative must be developed by the students, which will then be transformed into two structures. One using a linear travel structure and one using a concentric journey structure, both adapted from the same narrative or tale. Then, using the models, the students will make a poetic video of the journey.
Project 2A
Students are given the tasks in Site Analysis, Site Response, and Design Concept to undertake a site analysis of the provided specific site and the "study area". The objective is to identify the tangible and intangible components of the location in order to create guidelines for designing the Tanjung Tuan Recreational Forest Discovery Center in accordance with the site's features.
Project 2B
Designing a Discovery Center especially for Tanjung Tuan Recreational Forest is the task at hand. The total project should highlight and celebrate the diversity of culture, heritage, and history as well as the area's health, as well as the local neighborhood, activities, and economy. The building will serve the following functions: To act as a physical reminder of the place's culture, history, memory, and essence; To house and exhibit pertinent educational materials for visitors to understand and appreciate; To provide areas/spaces for any type of engaging program related to the Tanjung Tuan Recreational Forest and the exhibition.
Reflection
As I faced many obstacles while performing the assigned tasks, this module was the most difficult and challenging for me. I most anticipated tutorials since they provided me with the opportunity to ask questions, receive responses, and learn from my instructors and peers based on their experiences. Although the limitations and opportunities for creative freedom in this subject were challenging for me and resulted in many tense days and nights, I was nonetheless happy to have the chance to experience them. I'm appreciative of all the information, expertise, and fresh skills I gained from this module, all of which will surely be helpful to me as I continue my career in architecture.
