The module introduces the various aspects of environmental problems and circumstances. It focuses on how human activity, both positively and badly, affects the environment and how structures interact with the natural system.
Project 1
Assessing Daylight & Thermal Comfort at Modern Houses
In a group of five, we were tasked to formulate ideas on how to maximise daylight and thermal comfort for their chosen modern house that can be either a double storey corner lot or a double storey semi detached house.
Project 2
Artificial Lighting Design
In a group of five, we were given a space from various building typologies and need to apply the Lumen Method calculation in determining the suitable number of lighting required for the given space.
Reflection
The seven weeks of physically conducted lectures and tutorials for Assignment 1 proved to be a rewarding journey, expanding my understanding of sustainable architecture and its practical application. I learned to prioritize the environment in architectural processes and successfully applied lecture knowledge to the task. In Assignment 2, I honed my group communication skills, recognizing their crucial role in maintaining collaboration. Despite being different from previous experiences, the task was enjoyable, providing an opportunity to overcome challenges with my group.
