BUILDING SERVICES
This module covers essential building service systems, including air-conditioning, ventilation, fire protection, mechanical transportation, water supply, sewerage, and drainage. Students will explore system design, placement, and efficiency, integrating technical requirements into architectural projects to enhance functionality, safety, and user experience.
Project 1
This assignment requires students to form a group of 5–6 and review multi-storey building service systems. Using Blocks C, D, and E as references, develop a high-rise schematic design with service spaces and submit A3-sized drawings. Each member must propose one system—mechanical ventilation, air-conditioning, fire protection, or mechanical transportation—through plans, schematics, and justifications, considering both function and aesthetics.
Project 2
This individual assignment integrates building services systems into the Architectural Design V project. While the studio assessment focuses on overall design, this task evaluates technical aspects, including air-conditioning, fire protection, mechanical transportation, water supply, sewerage, and drainage systems.
