Students will learn BIM fundamentals, applying tools like Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, and Insight to create information-centric building models, conduct environmental analysis, and optimize design performance.
Collaborative BIM Project
This assignment introduces students to efficient, collaborative architectural design using BIM. They will: identify tasks, workflows, and technologies for managing a multidisciplinary project, develop communication and teamwork skills by defining roles and milestones, and evaluate strategies and team performance to assess BIM’s role in sustainable design. Students will use various computing tools to enhance their skills in information-based modeling for collaborative project delivery, gaining insights into BIM’s value and challenges for future sustainable projects.
This individual assignment focuses on using 6D BIM tools to analyze and optimize architectural design for energy efficiency and environmental performance. Students will adapt their previous building design, assess its performance, and propose improvements to reduce climatic impact on the economy, human well-being, and the environment. Key considerations include site location, orientation, sun path, spatial arrangement, and facade strategies for sustainable design throughout the building’s lifecycle.
I faced a lot of challenges while doing the assigned tasks, and this part was the toughest for me. I looked forward to the tutorials because they let me ask questions, get answers, and learn from my instructors and classmates who shared their experiences. Dealing with the limitations and finding the right balance between being creative and following the rules in this subject was hard, causing many stressful days and nights. Still, I was happy to have the chance to go through it all. I appreciate the information, expertise, and new skills I gained from this module, which will surely help me in my architecture career.
